A while ago I discussed my love of the book bag...the ultimate cheap and cheerful carryall. Notice the keyword here? Cheap!

Imagine how stunned I was when I saw these bags on J Crew's website. They look like book bags...they probably walk & talk like book bags...but, at $68, they certainly aren't priced like book bags. And, while I appreciate the "antiqued-brass finish hardware" and "leather details", I miss the five quid that was the average purchase price of my collection of similar bags.

I feel like I should make some "save the bookworm" pins...because I prefered it when the 'zine bag wasn't mainstream.
